The Act requires the employee to refrain from hiring any known women in any place for the six weeks immediately following the day of the employee’s delivery, miscarriage, or medical termination of pregnancy. Every woman has the right to maternity benefits, and her employer is responsible for paying them the amount of the average daily income for the time she was away from work. The maximum time a woman may get maternity benefits is twenty-six weeks, not including the eight weeks before the due date of her anticipated delivery. If a woman’s job requires her to work from home, the employer may permit her to do so after she has claimed the maternity benefit for the period and on the conditions that they may mutually agree upon.
