The Tamil Nadu Prevention of Crimes Act, 1982 (Prevention of Gangs Act) is a law enacted in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu in 1982 to prevent crime and anti-social activities such as bootlegging, forest law violators, and hooligans. This is for the Prevention of dangerous activities of Tamil Nadu bootleggers, drug offenders, thugs, sex offenders, slum land grabbers, sand theft offenders, and video theft offenders. An advisory panel comprising a judge will decide whether a person's arrest under the Gangster Act is valid.
